Lost and Found
Lost amidst the whirlwind of life,
Can ups and downs create whirlwinds,
That flung me down beneath muddy grounds,
In a place in the past, I'd yearned to escape
Am I lost trying to find answers
At the bottom of a bottle of whiskey,
Searching for Southern comfort to soothe
The tragic cold moment of yesterday
Perhaps it is the heaviness of the pandemic,
Leaving bodies & souls gone way too soon,
Reflecting and feeling like a stranger in my mind,
Dropping an anchor to the earth for security
But feeling adrift, untethered, and lost you see
Yet in the quiet of despair,
A whisper rises and reveals —a fragile but unyielding truth
Reminding me that storms don't last forever and this too shall pass
Even muddy grounds can tend the soil to give way to flowers
Seeing the faces of strangers, their kindness a light
A reminder that humanity, in all its flawed glory, still shines bright.
For every loss, there's a story of love,
For every fall, the chance to rise again.
It is in the darkest nights
That stars reveal their brilliance.
And so I plant my feet in the earth once more,
Not to bury myself, but to grow roots.
To find strength in the chaos,
To see beauty in the broken places.
For within me, within all of us,
Lying in the powers of healing, hoping, believing.
We are humanity: resiliency, tenderness, and truth.
And in being lost, we shall never be beyond redemption.
