A Note to My Son
My Dear Son,
You are a handsome, intelligent, strong, and proud Black boy, destined to grow into an extraordinary man. Know this: you are capable of achieving anything you set your heart to, and your potential is limitless, NEVER FORGET THIS.
In life, you will encounter hateful, hurtful, confused humans who are lost and will tell you lies that could distract and derail you from your God-given gift. Never let their lies take root in your heart. The world may present you with hatred from the many humans who are still learning how to heal from their wounds, but remember your focus must always be on love. Love will be your guiding light, your shield, and your strength to see things through.
Run passionately toward your dreams, read to expand your mind, and write to express your truth which will ultimately change the world. Listen carefully, teach with kindness, and always pray and meditate to find peace when things seem a bit chaotic. Lift yourself and others, stay humble yet confident, and never forget to smile, no matter what life brings.
Be still when you need to, but don't hesitate to fight smarter when the time comes. Invest wisely, play hard, build businesses, love your family with all intensity, and change the world with the gifts only you have. Most importantly, be unapologetically yourself.
And, son, travel. Kiss every corner of this globe- familiarize yourself with each continent before you're 18 to expand your understanding of humanity. We humans are fascinating creatures who are learning how to do life on this earth with our multifaceted shades of love. The world is waiting for you, and you are ready for it.
I love you more than words can say. You are my greatest gift, and the future is yours to shape.
